question

The paper is calling, and so, in response, I am gonna be short this morning... But I think I am gonna start asking a question on Mondays... Please feel free to reply! What always makes you feel better about the craziness that is life? How do you deal with all of the things the world throws at you? How did you do it at 20?

I know college is crazy and life even more so, but sometimes the whole-I'm-20-years-old-and-I-need-to-figure-my-life-out-thing is gonna happen, and I am GOING to have to deal with it, but it just seems like a lot right now and I am pulling my hair out, but I'll be back Tuesday night or Wednesday... when this paper is done and I have some of my sanity back.

Thanks for listening... I know this is usually about anachronistic things that shouldn't be instead of hard questions as old as time.... Back Wednesday with better things to say and hopefully some kick-butt things to say about projects.

  1. It was definitely harder at 20 than it is now...

Not because the problems were objectively more difficult, but because by now (46), I've seen enough tough times come and go that I have picked up some perspective.

Nothing lasts forever. The world doesn't end. You don't have to be perfect. You don't have to have THE FINAL ANSWER.

Just do the best you can and time marches on and things will change and you will be able to reinvent yourself if and whenever you need or want to.

Of course, that's easy to say at 46 and hard to internalize and really believe at 20... ;)

So, I'll make this one prediction - 26 years from now you'll be giving a stressed-out 20 year old the same speech! ;)

Hang in there, Sarah! It really does get better. :)

  3. What always makes me feel better about the craziness that is my life is to know that tomorrow is a new day and will have new challenges to meet.

It was definately harder when I was 20, but there are days even know when I wonder why I choose the career that I did.

But as I said before, tomorrow will be better and with all sorts of new challenges that I can't even imagine.
